Companies of all sizes now set net-zero targets in line with a 1.5°C future — our only future — to contribute to limiting the worst impacts of climate change. With science-based targets, companies set short- and medium-term emission reduction goals that are consistent with the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has developed the first global standard for the corporate sector to reach net-zero.
Power generation is responsible for 30-40% of global emissions, of which businesses are responsible for half. By using and producing renewable energy, companies can act on climate, new business opportunities, and meet expectations from investors, employees, authorities, and consumers. ECOHZ works with ca 20% of RE100 companies committed to 100% renewable electricity and provides various renewable energy solutions to reduce Scope 2 emissions for purchased electricity and Scope 3 emissions in the supply chain – with different levels of impact.

Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs)
Renewable energy documented with Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) proves the energy you consume comes from renewable sources. These are Guarantees of Origin in Europe, RECs in North America and I-RECs in a growing number of countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
Each EAC represents proof that 1 MWh of renewable energy has been produced and injected into the grid. EAC complies with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Scope 2 and is an effective way to improve sustainability rating contributing towards Science Based Targets, RE100 goals and Net Zero. ECOHZ also provides different impact solutions to meet your specific needs and contribute to several of the Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs.
To document and report that the energy you consume in Europe comes from renewable energy sources, you must purchase Guarantees of Origin.
To document and report that the energy you consume in North America comes from renewable energy sources, you must buy Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The RECs are used both for compliance reporting as well as voluntary consumption purposes.
I-REC is a global standard being introduced in a growing number of countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America where no similar scheme exists. I-REC builds on best practice from the North American REC market and Europe’s GO system and has strong stakeholder support. Currently, I-RECs are issued in more than 40 countries for use in a number of regional countries, based on the Renewables Good Practice (ReGP) criteria.
You can go go one step further and switch from conventional power procurement to purchasing directly from a power producer, using a Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA). ECOHZ is set to help existing and new clients navigate through the jungle of renewable producers, and help companies to make the move. The race to meet the 1.5° goal accelerates the building of new renewable projects. We believe you should prioritise PPA opportunities with a focus on impact by supporting new projects that also serve you with an enhanced corporate image.
Recognising that emissions located in the supply chain are on average 11 times as high as those from direct operations, supply chain focus is increasing. ECOHZ has developed a Supply Chain Portal for Renewable Energy which enables companies to engage their suppliers to switch to renewable energy in a few simple steps.
Biomethane (green gas) is renewable gas created from biodegradable material that can be used in the same way as fossil natural gas. Biomethane does not contribute to climate change and is used as a direct substitute for natural gas in the national grids. A Green Gas Certificate is a recognised Energy Attribute Certificate (EAC) by GHG-P and CDP. Consumers can make 100% renewable gas claims and report reduced Scope 2 GHG emissions.
Carbon Offsets (Greenhouse Gas Reduction Certificates) offer a reliable and recognised way to document and report the compensation for remaining greenhouse emissions that you cannot reduce or avoid otherwise. Many projects also deliver essential sustainable impact to communities and the environment, beyond the measured and monitored emission reduction. ECOHZ provides access to a portfolio of Carbon Offsets projects from different countries and standards.
