Renewable Energy Procurement Portal for Scope 2
Bring renewable energy procurement under control with a platform that streamlines Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) purchases globally.
Set renewable energy requirements. Establish the type of EACs each business unit should purchase for compliance, including quality criteria such as technology, vintage and other characteristics.
Enable business units to easily and autonomously purchase renewables, from receiving offers for the right type of EACs to raising orders and paying invoices independently.
Securely store the documents needed for reporting. Ecohz ensures EAC cancellations are done correctly, while all cancellation statements and invoices are kept in a repository you can access at any time.
Monitor progress globally and get a clear overview of the actions taken by each branch.

FAQs about Scope 2
According to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG-P), Scope 2 refers to the indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with the electricity, steam, heat, or cooling that a company purchases and consumes.
In simple terms, it covers the emissions that occur at the power plant, not at the company’s own facilities, but as a result of the company’s energy use.
EACs are certificates used to track and document the consumption of renewable energy. Each certificate represents 1 MWh of renewable energy and specifies how, where, and when that unit of energy was produced, allowing buyers to claim its environmental benefits, such as reduced emissions.
EACs give buyers exclusive ownership of the environmental attributes of a given volume of renewable energy, including reduced emissions. When submitting sustainability reports in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG-P), companies use EACs to substantiate the consumption of renewable energy, thereby reducing their Scope 2 emissions.
You should not cancel your agreement with your electricity provider. EACs are tracked and documented separately from the physical supply of electricity. You still need an electricity provider to physically supply electricity from the grid.
Cancellation means the EAC is redeemed on behalf of a specific buyer and retired from the market. Once cancelled, it can no longer be traded and can be used to support a renewable electricity or emissions claim.
Through the portal, you receive cancellation (redemption) statements from Ecohz corresponding to your EAC purchases.
Brand owners receive a complete overview of what all their entities have purchased. They can also monitor the progress of individual entities and use the reporting tool to track progress over time.
Each entity has a document repository where cancellation statements for purchased volumes are automatically stored.
