Puratos, the international supplier of food ingredients, and EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (EnBW) have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) securing the supply of solar-generated electricity for Puratos’ operations in Spain. The renewable energy contract between the two companies started in 2025, covering 25 GWh annually for more than eight years. The volume originates from EnBW’s solar power portfolio in Spain and includes Guarantees of Origin (GOs).
Ecohz, the global provider of tailored sustainability solutions, acted as the exclusive PPA advisor to Puratos, assisting at multiple stages of the PPA process, from identifying a project and seller that met the company’s needs to modelling various financial structures and providing advice throughout the negotiations.
Jean-Philippe Michaux, Chief Sustainability and Financial Officer at Puratos, says: “As a company committed to sourcing 100% renewable energy worldwide and achieving carbon neutrality in our operations by the end of 2025, we are thrilled to engage in this project to boost solar power production in Spain. This agreement not only helps us reduce carbon emissions globally but also aligns perfectly with our long-term sustainability strategy and vision.
Tom Lindberg, CEO of Ecohz, says: “Puratos’ investment in a PPA in Spain highlights their commitment to impactful renewable energy solutions and underscores the role of these projects in driving corporate decarbonisation. Ecohz is proud to have assisted Puratos in designing and finalising this deal. Actions like these position companies at the forefront of sustainability and contribute to collective climate goals by bringing new clean energy capacity online.”

With over 29,000 employees, EnBW is one of the largest energy companies in Germany and Europe. It supplies around 5.5 million customers with electricity and gas. As part of its transformation from a traditional energy company to a sustainable infrastructure group, the expansion of renewable energy sources and of the distribution and transmission grids for electricity, gas and hydrogen are cornerstones of EnBW's growth strategy and the focus of its investments. Until 2030, EnBW plans gross investments of €40 billion, around 90 percent of which will be invested in Germany. By then, around 80 percent of EnBW's generation portfolio is to consist of renewable energies, and the company aims to phase out coal by the end of 2028. These are key milestones on the road to the company's climate neutrality in 2035. www.enbw.com
