For the third year in a row, Ecohz will make a Christmas donation to Solar Aid for Ukraine, an initiative by the environmental NGO Ecoclub that provides Ukrainian critical infrastructure with a reliable energy source through solar photovoltaic generation.
Ecohz’s 2024 donation will contribute to the construction of a solar power installation for the Topolyanska water pumping station in Sumy, located 30 kilometres from the Russian border. The photovoltaic plant will make the water utility more energy-independent, ensuring it continues operating despite attacks on the public grid. The pumping station supplies water to 279,900 people, as well as healthcare facilities, schools, and kindergartens.
Ecohz has supported Solar Aid for Ukraine since 2022, driven by a commitment to assist the Ukrainian population and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Last year, Ecohz’s donation contributed to the construction of the Territorial Medical Unit-1, a hybrid rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 56 kW in the city of Lviv. The project was also funded by grants from organisations such as Oxfam, GIZ, Scatec, and the European Climate Foundation, among others.
In 2022, a similar fundraising campaign, to which Ecohz contributed, equipped a hospital in the Sumy region with a 60-kW rooftop solar installation. The panels now ensure continuous medical treatment for nearly 400 patients daily, following a period when power outages routinely disrupted medical procedures.

Ecoclub has further plans to construct a 550-kW grid-tied solar power installation to supply a wastewater treatment plant in Sumy. This plant serves the entire sewerage system of the city, benefiting nearly 280,000 people, including 27,000 internally displaced persons. The project will also save EUR 181,560 annually in electricity costs.
Ecohz is proud to continue supporting Ukrainian critical infrastructure through renewable energy. To date, with Ecoclub's assistance, 34 solar power plants have been installed across Ukraine, including 23 at medical facilities, seven at water utilities, and four at educational institutions. An additional 21 projects are already in the pipeline.
