Ecohz has enhanced its biomethane solutions with the ISCC EU certification, one of the leading standards for the sustainability of renewable gas solutions in Europe. The certification enables Ecohz clients to procure biomethane certificates for both voluntary and compliance purposes, including the reduction of obligations under the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS).
Awarded by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), the ISCC EU certification guarantees that biomethane complies with the European Union’s legal sustainability requirements. It ensures traceability across the value chain and enables certified biomethane to be tracked between owners, sites and countries.
The certification also verifies that biomethane is produced from sustainable feedstocks, such as agricultural waste, and upholds transparency throughout the process. Companies subject to European and national carbon markets can use ISCC-certified biomethane volumes to reduce their taxable CO2 emissions.
“Receiving the ISCC EU certification reaffirms Ecohz’s commitment to offering the best decarbonisation solutions available,” says Hugo Malfit, Senior Originator and biomethane expert at Ecohz. “We want companies in all sectors to reduce their GHG emissions in the most robust and verifiable way — with a solution that also makes business sense.”
“Clients regularly ask us how they can report biomethane consumption in their ESRS report or for the EU ETS. It is a great pleasure to be able to help them in these and other regulatory markets,” says Nils Holta, Net Zero Advisor at Ecohz. “We are excited for what this milestone means for our capacity to help clients in their decarbonisation journeys and for the many opportunities that will arise as the renewable gas market continues to develop.”
