thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology, one of the five business segments of the German business group thyssenkrupp AG, is collaborating with Ecohz to transition to 100% renewable electricity across its global operations in 2024.
By switching to renewables, thyssenkrupp Automotive aims to reduce 90% of its Scope 1 and 2 emissions worldwide, including in countries such as Germany, China, the US, and Mexico. thyssenkrupp Automotive, also plans to gradually extend emissions reduction and reduce reliance on carbon offsets according to a net zero pathway.
To help achieve these goals, Ecohz provides guidance on the most suitable renewable energy solutions per location, including purchased renewable electricity, renewable gas, and on-site power generation. Ecohz has also delivered materiality assessments, market analyses, and cost assessments for greenhouse gas reduction scenarios.
In January 2024, Ecohz participated in a mini-conference at thyssenkrupp’s headquarters in Essen, Germany, to lead upskilling activities on climate and energy with a group of thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology team members. Discussions on how to decarbonise the division’s Scope 3 also began during the event.
The Science Based Targets initiative has approved thyssenkrupp AG’s group-level goals, confirming they align with the Paris Agreement. The company is further considering solutions to become climate-neutral in line with Germany’s ambition to achieve this by 2045.
