H&M Group, the Sweden-based family of brands and businesses, reached 92% renewable electricity usage across its global operations in 2022, a stepping-stone towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
The retail company aims to hit 100% renewable electricity by 2030 and to reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 56% against a 2019 baseline in the same year. In 2022, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) verified and approved H&M Group’s emissions reduction goals. For the group, sustainability is an integral part of its business.
H&M Group further works to meet stricter self-imposed criteria for renewable energy procurement, such as sourcing electricity exclusively from solar and wind installations under 10 years old where and whenever possible. Ecohz also supports H&M in these efforts.
