Embretsfoss is a run-of-river hydro power plant
Embretsfoss is situated near Åmot in Modum municipality in Buskerud county.
The Åmot and Modum area is renowned for its rivers, forests and pleasant climate. In the heart of Buskerud county lies a valley known as the Valley of the Artists. Well-known painters such as Edvard Munch, Christian Krogh, Tidemand and Gude, among others, painted many masterpieces here during the golden age of Norwegian painting. The area is also known for its cobalt mining industry.
Watercourse: Embretsfoss exploits a fall in Drammenselva River. The 48-kilometre long river runs from Tyrifjord in the north to Drammensfjord in the south where it cuts through the centre of Drammen. Drammenselva River is a popular recreational area known for its excellent salmon fishing.
