ECOHZ Origin Matters

In 2011, ECOHZ managed a renewable energy portfolio of more than 47 TWh, making the company one of Europe's largest independent suppliers.

ECOHZ's portfolio includes renewable electricity generated by more than 200 power plants, based on fixed supplier agreements with 25 power producers. A large number of the power producers are located in Norway. However, during 2011, we increased our supply of renewable energy from power plants located in various countries in Europe. Our portfolio comprises renewable electricity generated from hydropower, wind power and biomass. ECOHZ also offers renewable energy from environmentally certified power plants.

ECOHZ has focused on ensuring increased traceability and improved documentation regarding the purchase of electricity with Guarantees of Origin, and has established a broad product portfolio.

In partnership with DNV (Det Norske Veritas), ECOHZ has verified the company's value chain, with a focus on tracing the flow of goods and funds. 

Company history

The company was established in 2002, with support from nine Norwegian power companies, and was formally named "Enviro Energi". From the start, the business concept was to be a European provider of Guarantees of Origin and value-added services for renewable energy. In 2007, Home Capital AS acquired a majority stake and the company's name was changed to ECOHZ. ECOHZ currently has 17 employees and is based in Oslo, Norway and Geneva, Switzerland.
